Imbue
Imbue Imbue Imbue By Maeve Maddox The old word imbue seems to be taking on new meanings. First letââ¬â¢s look at the only definitions currently given in the OED: imbue (transitive verb) 1. To saturate, wet thoroughly (with moisture); to dye, tinge, impregnate (with color or some physical quality). à 2. To impregnate, permeate, pervade, or inspire (with opinions, feelings, habits, etc.). Merriam-Webster concurs: imbue (transitive verb) 1.à to tinge or dye deeply 2. to cause to become penetrated: impregnate, permeate Here are some examples of traditional usage: [Robert] Schumanââ¬â¢s desire to imbue his musical works with the character of literary texts. [Ian Fleming] implemented a strict schedule for his writing [and] meticulously researched facts to imbue his works with realism. helping out with the family businessimbued her with the entrepreneurial spirit The ruling classes and the intellectual elites in the emerging Haitian state remain imbued with French culture.à [When Pickwick is jailed] the lighthearted atmosphere of the novel changes, and the reader is given intimations of the gloom and sympathy with which Dickens was to imbue his later works. The audience got a taste of howà literature imbuesà the world with infinite possibilities. Notice that in each example, the verb imbue is used with the preposition with: imbue his musical works with character of literary texts imbue his works with realism imbued her with the entrepreneurial spirit remain imbued with French culture with which to imbue his later works imbues the world with infinite possibilities Because imbue tends to be a literary word, I was surprised to see it used with the preposition to in this sentence on a literary site: Certain writers in the modern day and age use archaic terms such as thy, thee, and wherefore to imbue a Shakespearean mood to their work. Iââ¬â¢ve also encountered nonstandard usage of imbue in other contexts: this post is me, taking my own advicein an effort to reveal qualities which I endeavor to imbue in future illustrations. Sadly, many people only know indoor plants for their decorative value and are largely unaware of the many benefits they imbue to those who share their spaces. The first writer seems to be using imbue in the sense of instill; the second, with the sense of impart. A piece of fabric may be imbued with dye. A child may be imbued with feelings, beliefs, and habits of mind. The image is that of a liquid being poured over something that soaks it up. So why are some speakers beginning ââ¬Å"imbue things toâ⬠? One possibility could be the new use of imbue as gaming jargon: à à How to make an imbue Weapon Imbues and WoD Switching the imbue on your offhand weapon In this context, the noun ââ¬Å"imbueâ⬠refers to something added to a weapon to permeate it with certain powers. In gaming-speak, it is possible to imbue powers to an item. Those who imbue items are known as Artificers. Select the enchantment [you] wish to imbue to the item. Imbue is also enjoying popularity as a brand name for various products and enterprises. Imbue Bittersweet Vermouth Imbue Pain Relief Patch Imbue Design Imbue Winterguard Imbue Apparel Imbue Youth Movement Bottom Line: Apart from its use as jargon, imbue is a transitive verb. The preposition used with it is with. Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Get a subscription and start receiving our writing tips and exercises daily! Keep learning! Bathroom Reading
In a culture thatââ¬â¢s filled with an incessant call to action, it is paramount that we stop from time to time to think. This may sound like common sense, but in a fast-paced world itââ¬â¢s hard to find time to stop and consider things for more than a few minutes. Throughout my hectic high school career I have made a point of doing what many people fail to do on a daily basis: reflect and assess my life and decisions. I am a thinker. I analyze, postulate, and contemplateââ¬â sometimes too muchââ¬â but always with the intention of learning something new about myself. You might be surprised to learn that I do my best thinking not, in the classroom, not in my bedroom, but in the bathroom. The bathroom has always been a place where I can sit and relax in peace, an oasis of calm and contemplation. The closest thing to an interruption is a polite knock on the door, and a soft quiet is continually maintained. Bathrooms are kept diligently clean, and ample mirrors provide for sufficient self inspection. In short, the bathroom is the ideal place for introspection and critical thought. My bathroom, which is situated a brief walk down the hall from my bedroom, is a wonderful, pristine chamber where I take solace in silence and retreat from the stresses of my life. After a long day of high school and homework, clubs and activities, I head to my bathroom to think and reflect about the day past and the days ahead. In fact, I do some of my best thinking in the bathroom. Everything from ideas for novels, screenplays, songs and movies, from what to eat for lunch are considered when I take refuge in the bathroom. Solutions to longstanding problems come to me in epiphanies while staring into the symmetrical, blue-tiled floor. I achieve new understandings of books that I have read while looking up at the ivory coated walls. I ruminate on my friends and family, and what they mean to me. I even realize the numerous mistakes and errors that I have recently made, and attempt to resolve my flaws. The thinking I do in the bathroomââ¬â whether it be asinine fantasies about my future as a rock star, or the sorry realization that my mother was in fact correctââ¬â is important to me. Taking the time to think and reflect has kept me grounded during my high school career, allowing me to make good decisions and stay focused on what is important to me. Instead of living my life blindly and complacently, I have made a choice to think deeply and keep things in perspective. To me, the bathroom is not a place to escape the challenges of reality, but rather a place to embrace and conquer those challenges through the power of human ingenuity. I know that when I leave home for college, and eventually leave college for the real world, critical thought will remain a constant in my life. No matter what I end up doing with my lifeââ¬âwhether it be law, film, or literatureââ¬âthere will always be a clean, quiet bathroom down the hall. And for me, that bathroom will always provide the opportunity to better myself through critical thought.

Schools of Thoughts in International Relation Theory Term Paper
Schools of Thoughts in International Relation Theory - Term Paper Example While talking about realism, we must also talk about that kind of an issue which can be appropriately explained by the realism school of thought. The issue which we are talking about is the Iranian nuclear programme. Letââ¬â¢s discuss the issue of the Iranian nuclear programme in detail while keeping in mind the aspect of realism. Iran has started to work on the nuclear programme in the 1950s by saying that its basic purpose will be to overcome the shortage of electricity and atoms for peace programme. In the start of this nuclear programme, the United States of America also provided great help to Iran for the purpose of being a part of atoms for peace programme. That support, appreciation, and motivation were not only from the United States of America but also from another western world. It lasted till the Iranian revolution in 1979.After 1979, the Iranian government started to work on the nuclear programme with less support and assistance in the western world. Several misconceptions began to arise due to this act of the Iranian government regarding the nuclear programme. But it is to be kept in the notice that strengthening the power is the main focus of any government according to the school of thought of realism. So, if the Iranian government started to work on the nuclear programme for the purpose of inc reasing its nuclear power, then it is the right of the government. But here we should also say that every government, not only Iranian government, should allow the authority of united nations to inspect whether the work which is being done in the name of electricity purposes is actually being done for the same purpose or it has some other objectives also. Before going into the details of the new dossier related to Iranian nuclear programme, letââ¬â¢s first get to know the point of views of the Iranian government, Israel and the United States of America regarding Iranian nuclear programme.

Personal Privacy in a Technologically Public World :: Technology Human Rights Essays
Personal Privacy in a Technologically Public World "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks."1 So states Article 12 of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, enacted in 1948 after 20 years of debate and refinement among member nations. Furthermore, the United Nations Commissioner on Human Rights in 1988 made clear that human rights protections on the secrecy of communications broadly covers all forms of communications: "Compliance with Article 17 requires that the integrity and confidentiality of correspondence should be guaranteed de jure and de facto. Correspondence should be delivered to the addressee without interception and without being opened or otherwise read. Surveillance, whether electronic or otherwise, interceptions of telephonic, telegraphic and other forms of communication, wire-tapping and recording of conversations should be prohibited."2 The degree of privacy protection may differ among cultures and countries, and correspondence may encompass anything from a casual conversation among family members to extensive use of advanced telecommunications devices, but the principle remains the same: at a fundamental level, all human beings have a right to lawfully go about their ordinary business without interference or surveillance. Governments wishing to avoid United Nations sanctions may not make laws abridging these basic rights, and furthermore, must make it unlawful for other entities to do so as well. As the product of an international organization, the Declaration of Human Rights makes a strong case for a universal set of basic rights that follow from innate characteristics shared by all humans, in particular our sense of our own individual identities, and our ability to make choices based on intelligent reflection as opposed to instinctive reaction. In short, the Declaration of Human Rights recognizes the concept o f "personhood", and supports the right of each person to a private personal life. This paper addresses some of the issues surrounding the growing use of technology in our everyday lives, and it's impact on personal privacy, particularly in the United States. What kind of information might we consider private? Is it our driver's license number, social security number, Master Card and Visa numbers and ATM pin? Is it our mother's maiden name, our grades in high school, our educational history, work history and volunteer activities?

Device Invented: Teleportation
ââ¬Å"Kids, back in my days, we didnââ¬â¢t have those fancy teleportation devices; getting to places was a transportation problem. I remember very well those times. Cars now had a modern system of using infrared radiation as energy fuel, therefore many began to buy automobiles since the pollution problem was disappearing. Still, the traffic jams were constant and a solution was being researched. This way, public transportation became the axis of travel of the modern man. Nevertheless, as living and health conditions improved, there were still too many humans in the planet that needed to get from one place to another. We never believed at those times that change was very close. Twelve of November of 2026, a date I will never forget. I was working in my office when I began to hear a crowd of people cheering outside. Apparently scientists had been able to safely teleport an apple from one location to another. The news scattered quickly as a public demonstration was going to take place. I remember I sat down with my fellow workers around the screen and just in front of our eyes we saw how they teleported a dog from a chamber to another one located just a few feet away. The device worked and many anticipated that this method was the end to not only traffic jams but also the future way of public transport, economy, and more. Finally four years later, and just two months before I met your grandmother, authorities explained that teleportation had been tested enough to become safe and people could now use this marvelous invention. That day, I walked from my apartment and went straight to the nearest ââ¬Å"boothâ⬠which was the folkloric name people had given it. The ââ¬Å"boothâ⬠was two meters high, and wide enough for three people to come in. The machine had a small antennae that beeped loudly. When I first walked in, I could not help but notice the warm interior made of white polystyrene and all the wiring around it. Finally I stepped in, a door automatically closed and I just had to whisper for my destiny and bam, in a matter of a blink, I was standing in the other side of town. The device soon became the first method of transportation making anything quicker and cheeper. The device was soon used not only in transport persons, but soon companies shipped their products this way, and you could say it very much improved every aspect of life. And as you now know boys, the ââ¬Å"boothâ⬠was soon modified so that it not only covered a small area but it can now transport 50 persons at the same time. So children, you better get ready for school, its late and you need to teleport in 5 min or you will not get to class in time. ââ¬
